Turning Pages is a collaborative effort featuring twelve local Boise BIPoC leaders, reading and discussing children’s books that hold deep meaning and importance to them. Each episode includes the reader’s introduction of their personal journey, examples of overcoming barriers, celebrating who they are, and how each selected book has enriched, inspired, and encouraged them. Turning Pages was created to center BIPoC voices and role models, while elevating the importance of reading and literacy. Each episode seeks to engage K-6th grade learners, teachers, and parents in discussion and awareness of the diversity of experience and expertise found in our community. Most episodes were filmed on location in the Treasure Valley where each leader works or makes their space. Season 1 was released in 2021 with integrated art video lessons accompanying each episode and following Idaho State Art Education guidelines. The intent of these art lessons is to further bridge each Turning Pages episode and book choice. Discussion questions are also provided for each episode, to introduce vocabulary words found in the episode, as well as spark curiosity and connection with the stories each reader shares. Season 1 was a collaborative effort with the Interfaith Community of Boise, Idaho Business for Education, Boise Schools, Storyfort and Rediscovered Books. In addition to providing support for production costs for the episodes, faith communities sponsored each Title 1 school in the Boise District with a copy of books read through this series.
Season 2 is funded through the interfaith community of Boise with additional support through Boise community members. The Boise School District provides discussion questions and lessons to further connect each episode with classroom instruction.
Original music and theme song written by local Hip Hop duo Eleven and Jason D, and all filming and production made possible by Boise-based 18Ten Media.

At Collister United Methodist Church, we occasionally have photos and videos being taken of events to celebrate the moments. Photography, videography, and live streaming through zoom may be occurring during services, ministry projects, fellowship time, small groups and events. These are often used, but not limited to, printed and electronic materials and digital/social media. While we reserve the right to record and photograph events, services, etc., we strive to use them in safe and positive outlets. We will endeavor by default not to show faces of any kids or adults without verbal permission and if you need further precaution please speak to on one of our pastors. Please understand that we cannot remove your image from live streaming events but recording of that video is never publish afterwards.
