RACIAL JUSTICE: CONFESSION, LEARNING AND ACTION
At Collister, we confess that we have too often been complacent in the face of systemic racism and injustice—within the Church, our community, and our nation. We acknowledge that racism has shaped not only our society but also our American faith traditions, and we recognize the harm this has caused to Black, Brown, Indigenous, and all people of color.
As followers of Jesus, we are called to the ongoing work of repentance and transformation. Our Racial Justice initiatives exist to help us learn, act, and heal—together. We seek to learn about the realities of institutional and systemic racism embedded in our own theology and practice, justice systems and educational structures. We commit to act with humility, integrity, and a “follower’s” mindset—listening to and learning from Black leaders and communities. We use our strengths and blessings not to lead, but to serve as partners in the long work of restructuring, repair, and healing. This is not a temporary initiative but a lifelong journey of faith, grounded in love, accountability, and hope for the beloved community God calls us to build.

At Collister United Methodist Church, we occasionally have photos and videos being taken of events to celebrate the moments. Photography, videography, and live streaming through zoom may be occurring during services, ministry projects, fellowship time, small groups and events. These are often used, but not limited to, printed and electronic materials and digital/social media. While we reserve the right to record and photograph events, services, etc., we strive to use them in safe and positive outlets. We will endeavor by default not to show faces of any kids or adults without verbal permission and if you need further precaution please speak to on one of our pastors. Please understand that we cannot remove your image from live streaming events but recording of that video is never publish afterwards.
